Napa Vineyards: Developing sustainable water management
Crops need sufficient water to flourish. While Nuveen’s farmland investment strategy focuses on regions with adequate amounts of water to support agriculture, some of these regions do experience volatility in water availability, including periods of flooding and drought.
Nuveen worked with Napa Sanitation to route treated water to vineyards and other locations.
The result?
- Ground water usage was reduced by 75%
- Irrigation costs were lowered by 65%
