Representation at Nuveen

We firmly believe that more inclusive, diverse workforces enable better innovation and problem-solving, with a tangible impact on long-term financial performance. We are also committed to transparency in our relationships with our clients, colleagues and partners. The representation data shown below, collected as part of our internal Self-ID campaign , provides key insights into the demographic composition of our workforce. We use this information to strengthen and advance our diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts through our inclusive hiring practices, internal talent development efforts and client interactions and external partnerships focused on building an inclusive and diverse workforce.

Attracting top talent

Nuveen’s inclusive hiring strategy encompasses early talent, mid-career and executive recruiting. Our early-talent rotational program attracts and develops talent through global partnerships with institutions and nonprofit organizations that engage diverse talent and educate about the asset management industry.

A driving force in our mid-career recruiting comes from Nuveen’s Roger W. Ferguson, Jr. MBA Fellowship Program . The fellowship partners with leading MBA programs and professional development associations to provide an on-ramp for outstanding scholars, including those that have been historically under-represented in the financial services industry.

Our executive recruiting efforts focus on networking and speaking engagements through partnerships with professional societies and organizations. We also actively host and contribute to networking programs with our partners to seek out executive-level leaders.

Visit our Careers page to find out more information about working with Nuveen.

Community engagement

Global partnerships

Nuveen is an active member of numerous global nonprofit organizations, trade associations and industry alliances that share our commitment to inclusion, learning and advancing industry thought-leadership. Partnerships serve as an important bridge to the industry and accelerate Nuveen’s culture of excellence, innovation, inclusion and high engagement.

Select organizations we’re proud to partner with:

Be the Change

Launched in the summer of 2020, Be the Change  is our organizational platform calling for a sustained focus on social justice. Starting with our leadership, we’ve encouraged every associate across the enterprise to take action against racial injustice and to support communities in need. Associate participation has been unprecedented, coming to life through our enterprise-wide Race Against Racism, our Summer of Service community digital access engagement program for those in need, and through other tutoring and volunteer opportunities.
Business Resource Groups

Business resource groups (BRGs) are associate-led, company-sponsored groups comprised of employees who are catalysts for building a more diverse, inclusive and equitable environment for all. Together, the BRGs make our company a better place to work and stronger to do business with.

As of Q1 2024:

Responsible investing incorporates Environmental Social Governance (ESG) factors that may affect exposure to issuers, sectors, industries, limiting the type and number of investment opportunities available, which could result in excluding investments that perform well. ESG integration is the consideration of financially material ESG factors in support of portfolio management for actively managed strategies.  Financial materiality of ESG factors varies by asset class and investment strategy.  Applicability of ESG factors may differ across investment strategies.  ESG factors are among many factors considered in evaluating an investment decision, and unless otherwise stated in the relevant offering memorandum or prospectus, do not alter the investment guidelines, strategy or objectives.
