Suzanne R. Downing

Suzanne is a Managing Director and Client Portfolio Manager for the municipal fixed income group at Nuveen. She supports sales and marketing activity related to all of the firm’s municipal managed money products, including open-end mutual funds, closed-end funds and privately managed accounts. In this role, she works with portfolio managers to develop and communicate information about the investment teams, process and performance to institutional and retail audiences. She also helps explain the complexities of the municipal bond market and the benefits of professional municipal bond management to clients.

Suzanne started working in the investment industry in 1990 when she joined the firm. During her tenure, she has held a number of roles in the municipal underwriting and trading, closed-end fund product development and global private client groups.

Suzanne graduated with an M.B.A. in Global Economics and Marketing from the University of Liverpool, U.K. She also earned her Chartered SRI Counselor designation from the College of Financial Planning. Separately, she serves as a Chicago liaison for Nuveen’s Employee Sustainable Action Team. Suzanne also serves on several community committees; and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
