Stephen Lee

Stephen is a senior director on the Private Equity Impact Team at Nuveen. He is primarily responsible for originating, underwriting and executing transactions globally for the team’s Inclusive Growth strategy. Stephen is also involved with the overall portfolio management of the team’s direct investments, and also represents the firm on a number of impact fund advisory committees. In addition, he is responsible for providing comprehensive research and analytical and operational support to the group’s core initiatives.

Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Stephen worked as director of access to finance for Building Markets, a social enterprise based in New York that supports local businesses in post-conflict and developing countries. He has also held various positions at J.P. Morgan, Accenture and ATX Communications.

Stephen graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a M.S. in Foreign Service with a concentration in International Development from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is also a former Fulbright Scholar in Egypt.
