Mike Sales

Mike is CEO of Nuveen Real Estate and Natural Capital and a member of the Nuveen Executive Management Team. A veteran real estate investor, Mike brings 30 years’ experience and expertise to the role which includes responsibility for Nuveen's $147bn Real Estate and Natural Capital business.

Among career highlights, Mike played an instrumental role on the M&A team that brought together real estate platforms for TIAA and Henderson Global Investors in 2014, leading to substantial global growth of the new platform. He also led the acquisition of the Glennmont Partners renewables business in 2021. Mike is a trusted voice in discussing key issues and trends within the real assets market and is well established across the industry for his integrity, results-driven orientation, as well as his focus on collaboration and partnership with clients, employees and industry stakeholders. His career began in 1989 as a development surveyor at Morgan Grenfell Laurie, before being appointed to head of the U.K. Investment Agency in 1993. His tenure at Nuveen Real Estate commenced in 1994, when he joined the Henderson property business as an investment manager.

He received a B.A. (Hons) in business studies and an M.Phil. in land management. He is a member associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a member of the Investment Property Forum (IPF).
