Kevin McCarthy

Kevin is Secretary and General Counsel of Nuveen, and a member of the Executive Management Team. He leads Nuveen’s legal department to support the significant expansion and increasing complexity of the business. Kevin also partners with leaders across the firm to support product development. He serves as an officer of Nuveen Funds and is involved in the day-to-day operation, management and development of the firm’s funds business, while also playing an active role in fund board relations.

Prior to joining Nuveen in 2007, Kevin was a Partner with Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP, where he represented a number of mutual fund complexes, including Nuveen, and their advisers. He also represented the independent board members of several fund complexes and focused his practice on general corporate and securities law, including mergers and acquisitions.

Kevin graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting from Notre Dame and a J.D. from the University of Illinois, College of Law. He currently serves as a board member of Lurie Children’s Hospital.
