No1 New Oxford Street wins RIBA London award | News
No1 New Oxford Street, a prime London office redevelopment scheme, has been formally recognised by the RIBA at the 2018 RIBA Regional Awards (London).
The RIBA Regional Awards recognise the best in architecture, architects and research across the UK. The awards seek to afford recognition to buildings that reflect changes and innovations in architecture, but fundamentally display a commitment to design and development of buildings and spaces that actively improve people's lives.
Working closely with TH Real Estate’s development team, architect Orms researched No1 New Oxford Street’s original design and attuned their proposals to the aesthetic of the Art Deco and Art Moderne period in a dynamic contemporary way. The RIBA acknowledged that the scheme demonstrated unique character in terms of both external detailing and exceptional quality throughout that far exceeded the standards set by comparable developments.
Ilna Patel, Senior Portfolio Manager at TH Real Estate comments, "This award is credit to the outstanding work Orms has delivered for the redevelopment of No1 New Oxford Street. Quality and authenticity were the foundation of this stunning renovation creating a visually delicate landmark. Sustainability of the renovation was a vital aspect, and the standard achieved is testament to our commitment to creating 'future-proof' buildings for Tomorrow’s World."
John McRae, Director at Orms added, "We are delighted the project has been recognised as an exemplar by the RIBA London. I believe that the close relationship of TH Real Estate and Orms has realised a very high level of quality throughout the whole building and that this level of client input and support is critical in creating exemplary buildings."
Fully renovated in 2017, No1 New Oxford Street demonstrates the evolution of a building featuring 95,000 sq ft (8,826 sq m) of Grade-A office accommodation rated BREEAM Excellent, a communal roof terrace and 12,000 sq ft (1,115 sq m) of flagship-standard retail space. There are approximately two floors of vacant space available.
