About Jason D. Hernandez

Jason leads Nuveen Real Estate's global commercial real estate (CRE) debt business. He oversees investment strategy, originations, asset management, and third-party credit strategies. Since joining in 2018, he has taken on growing leadership roles across the debt platform and now sits on both Nuveen Real Estate's Global Executive Leadership Team and U.S. Investment Committee. Over his 20-year career, he has led more than $30 billion in transactions.

Before joining Nuveen, Jason was a Managing Director at ACORE Capital, where he led a team focused on structured finance investments, including mortgage, mezzanine, and preferred equity. As one of the firm's earliest employees, he helped build ACORE into one of the largest private lenders in the U.S. Prior to that, he spent several years at GE Capital Real Estate in roles spanning whole loan origination and North American equity investing. He began his career in Mergers and Acquisitions Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch.

Jason holds a B.S. from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School. He is a graduate of the GE Financial Management Program and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute UDMU Council and the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council.
