About Ryan
Ryan is a director on Nuveen Real Estate’s retail sector team. He oversees retail acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management functions across the southeastern U.S. Ryan’s current portfolio contains 48 open air shopping centers totalling 9 million square feet.
Prior to joining the retail sector team, Ryan held positions on the commercial mortgage portfolio management team which was responsible for a debt portfolio for the TIAA General Account. In this role, he formulated and implemented strategic business plans, screened new investment opportunities and faced off with capital markets participants on loan workouts, foreclosures, and loan dispositions. Ryan began his career at the firm in 2015, within the finance organization where he held several roles supporting TIAA’s growing retirement and individual services business. He entered the industry in 2011. Prior to joining TIAA, Ryan held several positions at Bank of America within the retail strategy group and corporate treasury, where he facilitated capital markets funding transactions and managed M&A integration initiatives.
Ryan graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina with majors in Finance and Marketing. He holds the CFA designation and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
