About Costas Papamantellos

Costas is Head of Energy Transition Investments and responsible for leading Nuveen Infrastructure’s clean energy investments in platforms and businesses that are relevant to the global energy transition, building on his investment and technology expertise.

Previously, he served as Managing Director & Head of RWE's Energy Transition Investments captive fund, where he led the investment platform since 2017 with teams based in London and New York City. Under his leadership, the investment vehicle deployed capital across Europe and North America in renewables development platforms, biomethane, distributed power generation, onshore wind repowering, and energy storage solutions. Since 2021, Costas also served as CEO of an RWE Joint Venture developing 1.5 GW solar PV projects, including one of the largest projects in Europe (940 MWp). With close to 20 years of experience in the energy sector, Costas has devised and implemented investment strategies across the entire clean energy spectrum. Previously, he worked at The Boston Consulting Group and the Viohalco Group.

He holds both a Doctor of Philosophy (Dr.-Ing.) and Master of Science (Dipl.-Ing.) in Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
