Nuveen Natural Capital入社以前は、バージニア工科大学で天然資源経済学および定量的手法の助教授、バージニア大学でシニア・サイエンティストとして勤務。これらの学術職では、森林および天然資源管理における確率論的モデリングとリスク分析に焦点を当てた研究プログラムを推進。同氏の研究は、専門学術誌に掲載され、国内外の環境・天然資源経済学会で発表。
