The future of cities post COVID-19
Sponsored by Nuveen Real Estate, the University College London (UCL) hosted a virtual roundtable to explore the medium and long-term implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for cities. Panellists included Alice Breheny, Head of Research, Abigail Dean, Head of Sustainability, Jack Sibley, Technology & Innovation Strategist and other leaders from across the built environment.
The panellists discussed the critical role of technology in a post-covid world and the increasing focus towards reliable, high-speed digital connectivity across all locations, including rural areas. The future density of cities was questioned, transport and city planning were highlighted as key pressure points and the opportunities to improve social and sustainable outcomes for cities were also discussed.
