Emilia Wiener
About Emilia Wiener
Emilia Wiener is the chief investment officer of TIAA’s General Account. She is responsible for the portfolio strategy, asset allocation and risk adjusted targets for the $300+ billion General Account, consisting of public and private fixed income, private equity, real estate and real asset alternatives. Emilia, who has served as Head of Fixed Income since joining the GA team in 2016, will be responsible for the overall portfolio investment policy and strategy, asset allocation, risk-adjusted targets across public and private fixed income, private equity, real estate and real asset alternatives and Treasury functions.
Emilia joined TIAA in December 2016 from AXA Equitable where she was Head of Fixed Income Portfolio Management. She has over 30 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining AXA in 2010, Emilia worked in the Corporate Bond Research department at Salomon Brothers and then went on to lead private placement fixed income teams at MONY, AllianceBernstein and Genworth. She has spent most of her career in portfolio management within the debt capital markets with a focus on underwriting and pricing credit risk, structuring, negotiating and documenting complex private transactions, debt restructurings and managing fixed income and alternative investment portfolios for insurance companies.
Emilia graduated with a B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University Stern School of Business. She has completed an Advanced Leadership Program, Darden (University of Virginia) and career highlights include being inducted to YWCA (New York) Academy of Women Achievers and being named to the List of 80 Elite Hispanic Women, Hispanic Business Magazine.
