About Bill Bateman
Bill oversees the European Housing/Living strategy for Nuveen, leveraging his past experiences to build a leading sector team that better understands the evolving landscape with a focus on how tenants live today as well as in the future and investing accordingly.
Bill joined the firm in 2020 from Round Hill Capital where he oversaw the Alternatives and Ventures strategies such as co-living and experimental PRS and formed part of the Executive Committee as well as ESG task force. He was responsible for building out strategies related to emerging trends as well as the firm’s venture capital platform. In addition, he incubated an impact driven affordable housing platform and was involved in putting together the strategy for the firms privatization platform, which included a variety of German businesses that focus on driving efficiencies to various areas of the housing ecosystem. Prior to joining Round Hill Capital, he worked for Swiss Finance & Property, running their regional offices in Latin America where he invested primarily in residential real estate. He also co-founded a businesses called Oasis Collections which is a global marketplace for short term rentals with a specific focus on serviced apartments for corporate clients, servicing their housing needs. He started his career at Moore Capital Management in New York City where he was a quantitative analyst.
Bill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in business administration. He sits on various boards related to property technology or next generation residential operating platforms.
