Resource efficiency with View Glass
Nuveen invested in View, a company that produces and installs smart windows that automatically adjust to sunlight, in 2017. Each blue-tinted windowpane has its own IP address and can be controlled from a smartphone app.
In addition to reducing energy consumption, the glass significantly increases the amount of usable space in commercial property by reducing glare and head from the sun.
Did you know buildings consume 40% of the world's energy - and 70% of its electricity - a massive environmental footprint driven by inefficient heating and cooling systems, space utilisation and sub-optimal use of windows and natural light.
Nuveen's responsible investing team formed strong relationships with View's leaders to help position for greater success, drawing on our experience as a major real estate investor. Since our initial investment, View has increased the umber of project it as completed to more than 500.
Our parent company, TIAA,is also undergoing a $200 million renovation of it's New York office, including replacing every window with View Dynamic Glass.
