Founded in 1987, Santa Barbara Asset Management, LLC (SBAM) is best known for our stable growth strategy; we also offer a small to mid-cap opportunistic growth portfolio and a high dividend growth strategy. We provide investment services to both institutional and individual clients.
SBAM primarily invests in companies that exhibit stable and consistent earnings growth, defendable competitive advantages, strong management, and low dependence on capital markets. We believe that buying such companies at reasonable prices can provide above-market returns. SBAM’s long-term investment horizon requires discipline and calm during periods of high market volatility. Our process is grounded in bottom-up, fundamental research and turnover discipline. Our analysts search for companies with stable and consistent growth metrics, reasonable valuations and favorable future prospects for continued earnings growth. We seek to buy and hold companies that can grow earnings and revenues throughout various business and market cycles. Our sell discipline is also bottom-up and fundamentally driven. Short-term stock price fluctuations tend to reveal little about a company's long-term growth prospects. Accordingly, our analysts focus on a business's underlying business fundamentals when evaluating whether or not to sell a position.
