Defined Portfolios Overview

Defined Portfolio, also called a Unit Investment Trust, is a portfolio of securities that remains fixed, except under certain circumstances, for the life of the trust. Shares of this portfolio are offered to individual investors and called "units."

At Nuveen, we still believe that defined portfolios remain a proven and trusted vehicle for financial advisors and their clients. However, the demand for Nuveen defined portfolios was not great enough for us to sustain the ongoing investment in infrastructure and resources necessary to continuously offer a full array of products.

Despite the decision to no longer offer defined portfolios, we remain committed to support and service the thousands of existing trusts currently carrying the Nuveen name. Specifically, this support includes research surveillance, customer service from Nuveen and our trustees, web site information and the daily pricing of the various trusts.
