Structural leverage is:

  • A strategic part of a fund's overall structure
  • Creates a systematic level of additional investment exposure

Types include (but are not limited to):

  • Auction-rate preferred securities (ARPS)
  • Borrowings
  • Variable-rate demand preferred shares (VRDP)
  • MuniFund Term Preferred (MTP)
